5 tips to elevate your entryway for 2023

When a new year comes, it brings a time of reflection on the year just passed & is a time when we can truly rest and enjoy the company of friends and family. For a lot of people, entering a new year brings the feeling of a fresh start, a time for new beginnings. It is only natural to embrace change & set a new tone for the year ahead, & there is no better place to start than the space you live in.

The entryway can often be an overlooked area in the home as some other rooms may take priority when initially styling and designing your space. However, don't let this be too overlooked because when done right the entryway can have an amazing impact.

An entrance often sets the scene for the rest of the home, it gives guests a glimpse of what else is to come. It is the first impression they have on arrival. Despite it being a smaller area in most homes, there are several ways you can style up your entrance.  Here are 5 tips to elevate your entryway.

1.     Reflect with a mirror

A mirror has multiple functions in a hallway. It can add height to a small space, particularly when it is larger in scale. It adds depth to the space, & also reflects the light coming through the doorway – making the space feel bigger and brighter. It also is great for a last-minute check-up before you run out the door! Our interior designers love using a multitude of mirrors, but their go-to has to be the Complete Mirror by Broste Copenhagen.

2.     Add seating

Before leaving, you often get met with tasks like changing your shoes, tying up your laces, or waiting for someone else to head out with you. That is why benches make a great addition. As they tend to be long and narrow, they are great for narrow hallways & they don't take up too much room. Need extra storage? Why not place your shoes or baskets underneath? A popular bench we use is the Bok Bench by Ethnicraft available in oak & black oak.

3.     Stay organised

If you are on the lookout for a storage piece that you can add to your space, then you might be on the hunt for the perfect console table. Not only does it serve a function in terms of holding all your bits and bobs like keys, wallets & post, but it is also a great way to style the space & make it feel like a room in its own right. Add some styling to your console by adding some seasonal flora or a candle for the ultimate luxurious entrance. Try our Monolit Wood Console Table by Ethnicraft.

4.     Hang your coats in style

It might be an overly obvious addition to your hallway, but we love making sure every functional moment is met with great design. Change it up by adding these Haak Hooks by Woud. The combination of a strong metal hook with warm oak wood makes for a very striking pairing.

5.     Add some warmth

There are many ways to make your entryway feel more inviting. One way is to add a warm rug. It will make you feel warm and snug every time you come home – like a hug! Another way you can add warmth is through lighting. Accent lighting, particularly in the darker colder, months will set the ambiance in the space. Discover our rugs & lighting here.
